A Local View of the Cold Air Cave in the Poconos

Stop by the Cold Air Cave on Route 611 in the Delaware Water Gap in the Poconos for a treat of fresh cool air rising up from the mouth of a cave. My family and I have been here many times, and we love it.

The cave itself is very small, and there is no place to sit but it is worth the trip just to feel how nature can produce this cold air.

You can view the cold air cave in the Poconos a mile or so past the Deer Head Inn, on the right hand side is a spot where you can pull off the road and walk in about 50 feet. As you approach the entrance to the cave you can feel the temperature begin to drop, by the time you take another few steps you may want to put a jacket on. The change is dramatic.

The view across the road of the Mountains in the Delaware Water Gap is breathtaking, and from a local Pocono residents point of view, this is certainly worth the trip, especially on hot days like we have been experiencing lately.

Visit the Cold Air Cave in the Poconos for a great day trip, you can also go on great hikes around this area for a great free day trip in the Poconos.

Discover Jimmy's the Best Local Pizzaria in the Poconos

Jimmy's pizzeria located in Stroudsburg PA in the Poconos has the best pizza and sub sandwiches I have tasted in the area in the last 20 years.

My husband and I moved to the Poconos over 22 years ago from New Jersey and have been searching for pizza like we remembered from NJ and NY for all of those years. We finally found that great tasting pizza in a place not far from our home.

Jimmy's is located on route 611 just past Studabakers, and before the Lowes complex of stores. It is a great location for anyone coming home from work off of route 80 who wants to stop and grab dinner.

They have an old world brick oven that they make the pizza in, which gives it a wonderful taste, plus they make burgers, salads, hot and cold sandwiches, calzones, stromboli, and more. They also have prepared dinners that you can purchase and heat up yourself at home, and the most wonderful cookies and desserts. They are even open for breakfast and have great choices including sausage and eggs, corned beef, bacon, Taylor ham, and potato and eggs all of which you can have on a fresh roll.

You can either eat in or take your food out, either way I am sure that you will love it. If you are looking for a place that only uses Boarshead Cold cuts, makes terrific pizza, and gives you the service you want plus great food that you can get delivered to your home you need to try Jimmy's Pizza. You can call them at 570-421-7930 or just stop by.

Let me know what you think by leaving a comment and come back for more information on great local places.

Shawnee Mountain Celtic Festival in the Poconos

A Local View of the Celtic Festival at Shawnee Mountain in the Poconos
On May 26th and 27th from 11am to 6pm, Shawnee Mountain will once again host the best of the Scottish Highlands Celtic sights and sounds at a grand festival. The Celtic festival is one of the finest ones that you can attend in the Poconos, and I can assure that you will have a great time.

The entertainers include Rathkeltair, a rock band who include their Celtic roots in all of their music. The Irish Lads will be playing their “real Irish music” in the Shawnee Pub on both days of the Celtic Festival. This is always a great show with fantastic music and the Pub gets jammed so it is best to get their early. If you want to hear the distinguishing acoustic style of Irish music, stop by and have a listen to The Celtic Ramblers. This band of five, always get the crowd on their feet, especially when the fiddler comes on stage. Also playing will be Timlin and Kane, these gentlemen who have playing together for 36 years travel the United States performing at Colleges and Concert Halls pleasing crowds wherever they go.

Favorite bands and dancers from the Poconos will also grab your attention. The Pocono Region Pipe and Drum Band is a favorite of young and old alike. But, the children will be captivated by the Celtic wizards showing off their magic skills, the sheep dogs working just as they do on the farms, juggling shows, having their faces painted, and stopping by the farm animal petting zoo.

There is something for everyone to enjoy at the Shawnee Celtic Festival and it might just take both days for you to fully enjoy all there is to see and do. Even if you can only attend the festival for one day you will be glad you did. This is a great way to show little children the dance and music that they can experience from around the world, and all of it is brought to you right here in the Poconos.

Going to the Shawnee Celtic Festival has been something my family has been doing for years, and we always enjoy it. This time of year brings out the beauty of Mother Nature in the Poconos, especially at Shawnee. Because Shawnee Mountain resort sits right in the heart of the Delaware Water Gap, the views are amazing. Surrounded by mountains that are not touched by buildings or homes you will get to experience nature at her best, all while enjoying your own local view of the Shawnee Celtic Festival.
